Plant opening China
In June 2024 ASTOTEC celebrated the grand opening of its new plant in the vibrant Jintan Economic Development Zone. This big milestone marks a dynamic new chapter for Astotec Automotive in China.
2022
Expansion to China
Astotec Automotive started 2022 the process of establishing ASTOTEC´s first China entity. With this new manufacturing facility in Changzhou, China, Astotec Automotive can provide locally produced products to its customers based in China.
2021
New brand strategy
On 1 October 2021, the company adopts the new ASTOTEC brand and a new slogan to reflect its shared vision: FUTURE POWERED BY EXCELLENCE.
2019
Expansion to the Czech Republic
The group expands its market position with the purchase of Czech firm Astotec Automotive Czech Republic (formerly PATVAG). The Brankovice site has been manufacturing high-quality igniters for automotive safety systems since 1993.
2009
Pyrotechnic Solutions
Astotec Pyrotechnic Solutions (formerly called Schaffler, founded in 1902) is integrated into the group. Since 1917, the Winzendorf site has designed and produced fuseheads for electric and electronic igniters and components for blasting applications.

Expansion to Hungary
Opening of a production plant and the founding of Astotec Automotive Hungary in Pápa, Hungary.

New ownership
The Schuster family takes over the business and pushes ahead with expanding the product portfolio.

Automotive
The company’s entry into the civilian sector provides the early foundations for today’s subsidiary Astotec Automotive. In particular, its innovative pyrotechnic expertise finds uses in automotive safety and mining.
1860
Founding
ASTOTEC (known as Hirtenberger at the time) is founded in the district of Hirtenberg. Until the end of the last century, its business operations focus on metal processing and ammunition manufacturing.
